Banlin ConstructionThe improvements to the Yakima Central Library were undertaken to bring new life to a badly dated building which had not received significant updating since its construction in 1958. The alterations included moving the Service Desk to a more visible, centrally located position directly across from the building entry and relocating the restrooms to the main floor to increase accessibility and safety. The Children’s, Teen’s, Stacks and Computer areas were relocated and resized to meet the current needs of the community that utilizes the library. Playful computer counter shapes, finishes and color accents were used to provide additional interest in the Children’s and Teen’s area.
